This week, our Travel Etiquette Guru,
Mary-Lou Weisman, talks with host Diana Nyad about an upcoming
trip to France - and, specifically, about the French culture of
eating.
Apparently, the two countries think
about food very differently. So before you jet off to Paris, remember
a few of Mary Lou's observations...French food is not portable,
eat-and-go-type of fare, like American "gastronomy" can be. It
may be "gauche" to eat your sandwich on the street, but -- strangely
enough -- it's not gauche to bring your dog to the table at a
French café. Just be sure not to ask for a doggy bag. Sacre bleu!
Now, that's gauche...
