World Traveling
Hi Rudy -
First, I thought I'd let you know that I enjoy your program - you're
insightful and entertaining. I also wish I could jump in there
sometimes to share my personal info with some of your listeners!
Which brings me to my second point: The US Navy. The Navy's job in
peacetime is to travel the world and let America's presence be seen in
as many places as possible. When in port, American sailors are
encouraged to get out and mingle with the locals, sight see, take
excursions... In effect, we're the perfect tourist, if you will!
Presently I'm a recruiter for the Navy in Burlington, VT, but I was
stationed in Hawaii for four wonderful years, and made one six month
cruise to such countries as the Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand,
India, Pakistan, Bahrain, and the UAE. For an East Coast sailor,
he/she could cover the Baltic states, England, or tour the
Mediterranean and Africa. In short, the wealth of information
available via those in the US Navy would be astounding.
Third, I'm surprised that more people haven't ever asked you
about the travel opportunities associated with the US Navy. The
mother whose 16-year-old son wants to travel is what sparked my
curiosity about this. The places that a son or daughter visit during
a four-year tour of duty would make a parent green with envy! Now, a
16-year-old can't be in the Navy - but anyone with a high school
diploma, and who is mentally, morally, and physically qualified, and
is between the ages of 17 & 34, certainly has the travel
opportunities of a lifetime.
Just a few thoughts, Rudy. Keep up the good work!
Bob Britton
