Best Deal: the Vienna Opera

One of the best deals I ever got while travelling is one which is a pretty well known deal in the backpack circuit in Europe, but a great deal nonetheless:

The Opera in Vienna has a limited number of Standing Room Only seats available each day for the equivalent of $2.00 (US). You go in the morning, stand in line until they let you in, then you tie a scarf to the rail to hold your place and can leave until showtime. For less than the Ticketmaster charge for a ticket in the U.S. you can see one of the world's best opera's performed in one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world. It was the most amazing experience seeing a Mozart Opera performed in the city where he wrote it, for just $2.00, well within my poor backpacker's budget.
