We live in Chicago and I was working in New York
City. During Christmas break, we brought the kids
to New York to visit. My mother-in-law happened
to come up from Florida to visit. I had a lot of
work to do and, of course, all the little cousins
were visiting the hotel room to see their cousins
from Chicago. Well, they were going to have a
sleep over at the hotel and I just saw my work
going down the drain. So I acted mean until
they got the idea to leave (I kinda yelled,
etc.). Well, my mother-in-law started collecting
towels, blankets and pillows so that the little
cousins would have some comfort sleeping at one
of my sister-in-law's house! My youngest nephew
found a paper napkin with the hotel's name on it
and handed it to my mother-in-law and said, "Here
grandma, this is from the hotel too!" Of course
my mother-in-law was very embarrassed. But did
she guiltily put everything back to show my
nephew that stealing was improper? Of course
not! They all left me alone in the hotel
room sans stuff and I got my work done.
