Carry-On Suggestions

I am a frequent traveler flying from Newark Airport in New Jersey. I always carry on my bags, not because I want to, but because I have to. It a PAIN IN THE BACK to shove thing in the overheads.

There are three reasons why I do carry on my bag however:

  1. Airlines lose bags. I can't make sales calls, or have meeting information available, if my bags go to Hawaii and I go to Chicago.

  2. In any major airport, Newark, Detroit, Chicago, etc., it has taken more the 30 minutes for me to get my checked bags. This is to much of a delay when I am on a tight schedule.

  3. Bags get damaged, and even though the airline will pay for the repair, they do not take them to the repair shop. I have to do it and this wastes my time to get it done.

It is so nice when I fly on a commuter [plane]. I bring my bag to the plane. I know it is on the right plane going to the right destination. When I get to where I am going, my bag is there, waiting for me, as I get off the plane. No delays and no worry.

If the airlines would guarantee that when I arrived at my destination my bag would be there within ten minutes (time enough to rent a car) I would never carry on a bag again.

Maybe you can have some influence with the airlines and the FAA.
