Tips on Safety
Some things I learned growing up in New York have always served me while
traveling. If you feel threatened look confident. Don't make eye contact
with anyone -- focus on where you are going. If you don't know where you
are going, fake it. Go to a hotel, expensive store, a well-lit square.
If you are really freaked out you can do two more outrageous things 1)
call out someone's name and wave or 2) act insane. This is hard unless
you've practiced. Fake insane looks stupid and makes you a sure mark
unless your potential assailant has a good sense of humor.
