'Aging' Traveler

I was amused by the daughter who said her Dad wanted to take the climbing trip because she felt he wanted to prove he could still do things at 61! It's interesting what people can do at any age if they have a sense of adventure and an open mind. I am 62 and since my divorce when I was in my 40s I have met so many wonderful people just because I tried "new things."

From a Middle America housewife I became a nomad. My kids were a bit older and I financed my new life style by working in a resort hotel for six months of the year and spending the next six months exploring. Several years ago I fell in love with the Azores and bought a small cottage on the sea so I now have a "home base." I live at the resort where I work so housing is no problem for the rest of the year.

When I was 57 I did an Atlantic crossing with an English single-hander sailor friend on his small (32') sailboat from Faial, Azores to Bequia in the Caribbean. It was a magical 25-day trip and I wouldn't have missed it for the world, in spite of my age. God has blessed me with good health and although I will never be rich, I still am working and meeting fascinating people all over the place, wherever I go. With a little bit of imagination and a little moxie, anyone can do what I do. I truly love my fabulous life! Thanks, Rudy, for your wonderful show.
