My Hometown: Stow, MA

I grew up in Stow, MA, which was once a small agricultural town 30 miles northwest of Boston. As my mother and I both love history, when I was 17, we joined the Stow Minutemen, and for the past three years have been active with the 2nd Massachusetts Regiment (a Continental Army re-enactment group). So whenever someone we know visits during the spring, summer or fall, we take them to an authentic re-enactment of some sort. If we can, we dress them up in 18th century clothes, and introduce them to authentic food.

A great place to take them is the Minuteman National Historic Park. But my favorite time was with our friend Margaret, who visited from England. We took her to a small encampment on the Stow commons, and she got to participate in cooking food and spinning wool. It was a blast, and she can't wait to come back!
