An American Jew in Israel

As an American Vietnam veteran, I was very moved by the portion of the story that took place at Masada when Boaz spoke of patriotism. His statement "they don't have to suffer the consequences of that policy" struck home so vividly.

I have, since my own experiences, been very opposed to the use of troops until all other means have been pursued. Even then, they should be used only with real determination that the goals are worth the potential sacrifice. Short of the protection of our own existence, this criteria will never be met to my satisfaction.

This was an excellent piece in total but especially in that it so clearly presented a picture of a man who served his country with such sharp focus.

Jim
