Coumeenoule Cottage on the tip of the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry, Ireland
Some time ago my wife heard you talk to a woman who has a stone cottage on
the Dingle Peninsula. She was asking you for advice as to how to market it.
You sent her to your web page, which is where we went to find out about it.
My wife and I stayed there from Oct. 9 to the 16th and recommend it
wholeheartedly. It is small (one bedroom and another sleeping area in the
living room with sleeping bag and pillows) and very rustic. It needs some
work: the shower is very primitive, the smoke-detector goes off when the
oven is on, and the yard could use a good gardener, but we loved it. It is
cozy, has a small fireplace (we call it "Peat's Place"), washer/dryer,
refrigerator, oven, dining area, everything a self-catering place needs.
The surrounding area is breathtaking. It is on the Atlantic Ocean and is
the westernmost part of Europe (for whatever that's worth).The movie
Ryan's Daughter was filmed there.
It is in a farming community with sheep, sheepdogs, lots of calico cats,
Sheila the talking donkey across the road ("Top of the morning,
Sheila"..."Haaw-eeee-haw-eee-aww", says Sheila each and every time). A poet
or writer would be better able to describe the ocean views, the beaches,
the ancient stone structures that have survived the centuries , the rocks
and rocks and rocks...than I can. Let's just say the National Geographic
Explorer described this area as one of the most beautiful spots in the
world.
