This Week: Fibs on the Road

I asked you to call in a while back with travel fibs told on the road, and, frankly, some of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. You out-do even me -- though I am a staunch advocate of the truth. And the funny thing about your calls this week is that the best fibs came from women. I'm not saying women are liars -- just, well, um, persuasive.

We start with Debbie in Minnesota. She and her husband were on a package trip to Acapulco, staying at a beach hotel. At check in they were told that rooms could not be changed -- that caused some problems when they looked out their bedroom window.
Kim is in Sandy, Utah and had a run in with the law while she was on the road. She and her husband were meeting some friends at Yellowstone National Park and were running a bit late.
Janice in Portland, Oregon tells us that whenever she or her husband makes of fool of themselves, they lie.
Claudia is next, calling from Minneapolis about her time traveling through Stockholm. She was riding the rails in Europe and hadn't had a bath in a few days -- so she thought she might ask a hotel if she could use one of theirs.
Lisa is in D.C. She was flying coach from Moscow to New York and her seatmates happened to be a group of hacking, coughing school kids.

Next Week: Trysts on the Road

Valentine's Day is on it's way and we're dimming the lights here at The Savvy Traveler, breaking out the Barry White records and stocking up on boxes of chocolate. But the holiday won't be complete without hearing from you. I want to know about the romantic trysts you've had on the road.

I've been lucky enough to catch cupid's arrow once or twice while traveling -- I was flying to Hawaii and started a conversation with a very attractive woman seated next to me. The next thing I know, we were passionately kissing, which led to quite a romantic weekend. The funny thing is I never got her name and never got a number.

Did you ever meet a special someone on the plane or train and end up spending a whole weekend with them? Or maybe it was a short romance in Paris -- walking the streets hand in hand, eating at wonderful bistros and drinking wine as the sun set.
