Fields
of Dreams by Susan Burton
Every
summer, hundreds of 12-year-old boys come to a place called "Cooperstown
Dreams Park" to play in baseball tournaments. The park is just
a few miles from the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The tournaments,
which are held almost every week from June through August, attract
teams from all over the country. Parents come along for the ride;
they stay in nearby hotels. But for the boys themselves, the experience
is more like baseball camp. They stay in cabins with their teammates,
eat meals together, and they play a lot of America's favorite
game. Susan Burton visited.
Fahrvergnügen
in Autostadt by Kyle James
Germany
has a long tradition of building some of the world's finest cars.
Think BMW, or Mercedes. And, the relationship between Germans
and their automobiles is often a close, almost intimate one not
seen in many other places on the globe. Now, Volkswagen has tapped
into that special bond by building the Autostadt, or "car city."
It's a theme park of the automobile about an hour west of Berlin
by high-speed train. The Autostadt turns the process of picking
up a new car into a major event for the whole family, one that's
designed to be educational, emotional, even inspiring. According
to VW, taking possession of your new car shouldn't just be signing
on the dotted line and picking up the keys -- it should be an
"experience." Kyle James drove on over.
