Travelers' Aid: Volunteering
Listening to Joelle's story, I thought about the guts it must have taken to make that first move: calling Doctors Without Borders and signing up. In fact, there are lots of different kinds of volunteering you can do abroad - ranging from high intensity relief work to things like helping out on an archeological dig, or counting trees in Colorado.
