Deal of the Week: St. Louis by The Other Airline

Maybe not since its landmark arch opened in 1966 has St. Louis made as much news as it's making now. With American Airlines' plans to buy TWA, St. Louis is again all the rage. That's where TWA is headquartered, and American as well as other potential suitors promise to keep it as a hub, ensuring residents of big time-airline status.

But there's another airline serving St. Louis: Southwest, the 900-pound gorilla of low-cost airlines. And ostensibly to celebrate its 30th birthday, Southwest is offering $30 each way fares between St. Louis and non-stop destinations including Chicago, Detroit, Little Rock, Louisville, Omaha and Tulsa, to name a few. Now, it's Southwest's 30th anniversary in every other city it serves, too, but only St. Louis is getting lucky, leading me to think this might just be a PR move to remind everyone TWA isn't the city's only airline.

Whatever the reason, if St. Louis is on your horizon, here are the simple rules. Just buy a round-trip ticket a week before departure to get the $30 each way fare. The sale ends February 22nd, but you can fly until May 23rd. Details? Call I-FLY-SWA or go to Southwest.com.
