Deal of the Week: Spirited Deals Unless you regularly fly on Spirit Airlines, you're probably not too familiar with the Ft. Lauderdale-based carrier. But did you know that Spirit is the largest privately-owned airline in the country? While Southwest may be better known, Spirit is 11 years old and increasing the number of cities it serves. And right now, you can cash in on inaugural prices for some of those new routes. How about non-stop between LA and Ft. Lauderdale beginning at $238 round trip? Chicago and LA: $198 round trip? Or $198 to fly round trip between Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area's Oakland airport? Spirit is also introducing non-stop service between Chicago and Atlantic City ($58 round trip) and between Ft. Lauderdale and Oakland for $238 round trip. Most of these fares are valid for travel between May 9th and at least mid-June. But remember: The deadline for buying tickets is April 6th. Spirit Airlines keeps alive the spirit of low-fare flying - that's our deal of the week!
