Deal of the Week: A Different Kind of Deal

This is about a New England resort town opening its hotels and lodges to people or families of people who have - or have had - cancer. The place is Stowe, Vermont, and this is the first time the city has ever done this. Over the weekend of May 4th, Stowe is hosting what it's calling a "Weekend of Hope Cancer Event." In conjunction with the Vermont Cancer Network and medical specialists, this is a two-day celebration of the human spirit as well as an educational event. Anyone whose life has been touched by cancer is invited. On Friday night, the 4th, cancer survivor and actress Patty Duke will speak. On Saturday night, an ecumenical candlelight service will be held in the famous Stowe Community Church, followed by a candlelight walk. And on Sunday morning, an inspirational service will be held at Stowe's Trapp Family Lodge. In between, there will be lectures, seminars, and other educational offerings. Here's something that caught my eye. Dozens of Stowe hotels and lodges are providing free accommodations Friday and Saturday nights. How often do you hear about something like that?
