Deal of the Week: Cheerio!

This is a two-for-the-price-of-one deal to London. This is unusual, but remember - the UK is taking it in the chin ever since the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease. As my friend and Today Show travel editor Peter Greenberg says, lots of Americans think if they land in London, they'll be met by a frothing cow. And, of course, only a tiny percentage of the country is affected by outbreak.

So to stimulate business, Virgin Atlantic says two people can fly for the price of one from June first through the last day of August. There is a catch - you have to fly in what Virgin calls Premium Economy class, which offers more legroom and other amenities than regular coach seating. So this is not the airline's cheapest fare. But it's not first class, either...it's not what Virgin calls its Upper Class, where passengers can get a manicure or massage while in flight.

Here's the deal: With this promotion, a premium economy ticket will cost you about $1200 from the East Coast, a bit more from the West Coast. That comes to only $600 a person before taxes.
