Ugly American Tales Don't Help
We know there are still people on the road who
make us cringe and feel embarrassed. But do you
really think it helps to tell ugly American
stories. Why now have people send you the
beautiful American (or beautiful traveler)
stories. Most of us are more inspired to good
behavior by having good models.
My husband and I have had wonderful experiences
traveling. We have frequently been mistaken for
non-Americans (ranging from Mexican nationals
from Mexico City to Australians) because we don't
fit the stereotype people have of American
tourists. How about helping everyone learn to be
better travelers, and have a better time in the
process.
My husband and I were both bothered by the
focus on the negative when you announced the call
for ugly American stories a few weeks back.
Maybe you can balance the storytelling now.
Thanks. We enjoy the Savvy Traveler. It's a
great program.
