Deal of the Week

Called UAL about the $999 vacation package. The nice agent mentioned Savvy Traveler. However, this is what I was told:

1. The $999 price applies only from 1 Sept to 1 Oct double occupancy with the milage bennies;

2. From 1 May to 31 Dec, except for the month mentioned above, the regular price applies, but the milage bennies accrue.

3. I'm single; I asked for the single supplement rate. Seventy five percent additional. And the round trip to a West Coast gateway, except for the 'golden month' is at regular rates. Some deal.

I usually book my flights directly with the airlines, so I know the shifting sands of pricing in that industry. The only straight deals, as advertised, that I have found this year come from Southwest Airlines.
