Rattlesnake Roundup Segment

I was sorely disappointed in you and your staff for promoting the rattlesnake "roundup" in Sweetwater, TX, on the show I heard today. 120,000 lbs. of rattlesnake equates to about 25,000 animals, the vast majority of which pose no threat to human life or commerce.

This roundup, like those in Wyoming and other western states, truly is "American" for its waste of life, ecological unsoundness, and brutality. The diamondback rattler and other snakes, venomous and non-venomous, are vilified by the unthinking, when in fact these animals help keep rodent populations, and therefore the environment at large, in balance -- including prairie dogs, which cause far more damage to the pasture land ranchers prize so highly.

Bad move.

Bill
