ATM Tip: Maintain a Money Cushion
Dear Savvy Traveler,
Last year on our first trip to France, we took the advice of
experienced traveler friends and got francs from ATM Machines * first
at the airport, then at locations near where we were staying. We got
a great exchange rate and were charged only a $1.00 for using foreign
(as in other bank's) ATMs.
There is one little hitch. Our ATM receipts only told us how many
francs we had withdrawn -- not the amount of dollars. So, it's a good
idea to have a bit of a cushion in your account. That way, you won't
unwittingly drain your balance down to zero.
